What the numbers are, and are not

Allegation by a ransomware group, not a confirmed attackEvery claim in the pack was posted by a ransomware group on its leak site. We track claims; we do not verify breaches.

State figures count only claims we could place in a state, so they are a floor, not a full count. We never place a claim from a company name, a phone area code, a paid registry or a map lookup. How claims are placed in states · Methodology

Questions

Where does the data come from?: Public ransomware leak-site claims gathered from several tracking sources, including ransomware.live. The methodology explains collection and corroboration.
Is this a list of confirmed breaches?: No. Each entry is a claim made by a ransomware group. Claims marked authority-confirmed match a US government breach filing.
Can I change my states later?: Yes. Open Manage your packs and sign in with the email address on your subscription. Swap your states at no charge, or add a state for $9 more per month, up to 5. A state you add gets its latest pack by email within a few minutes. The same page has every pack you have received.
